Rape-accused doctor gets bail

A medical doctor who worked for the gender-based violence unit at Katutura State Hospital has been granted bail alongside his 58-year-old mother, after they were both accused of molesting and raping his seven-year-old son.
In his judgment on Friday, Magistrate Immanuel Udjombala said: “This bail application was based on emotion between both parties. We should note that law is reason divorced from emotions, and once we start to cloud our reasoning with emotions, we shall not do justice and apply the law without fear and favour”.
They were released on bail of N$15 000 each, on condition they do not interfere with state witnesses or state evidence.
