Public Enterprise CEOs Forum to be held at the coast next year

Over 400 public enterprise staff are expected to attend the Public Enterprise CEOs Forum in the Erongo Region next year.

According to Namibia Airports Company (NAC) CEO Bisey /Uirab the event is scheduled to take place during the first week of July.

"We have engaged with the office of the governor, the mayors of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, and the regional police commander to inform them of our plans," he said Tuesday.

"We also engaged with various business communities to ensure they are prepared for the influx of over 400 public enterprise staff members. This will significantly boost activity in accommodation establishments and other facilities during that period."

/Uirab said the Namibian government has established multiple public enterprises as part of government's commitment to respond to the needs of Namibians.

"These public enterprises cover a very broad spectrum of our society, ranging from transport to fisheries, media, financial services, tourism and more."

/Uirab said public enterprises are led by boards appointed by the public enterprises ministry. These boards, in turn, appoint chief executive officers who work with their staff to achieve the objectives of their respective enterprises.

"We realised that cooperation and collaboration are the way to go, amongst ourselves and with business Namibia, the central government, regional governments and local governments."

The week will feature the annual general meeting of public enterprise CEOs, a gala dinner and a social responsibility project to benefit the less fortunate in the region, in addition to sports events for employees.

/Uirab added: "Apart from engaging amongst ourselves to share our successes, joys and pains, we have decided to involve all our employees through various means, particularly by hosting annual sporting events where all public enterprises participate.”
