The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), in collaboration with First National Bank (FNB) Namibia, hosted the third annual TechNovation Social on Wednesday, 19 June, in Windhoek.

Held under the theme ‘Bringing creators and customers together,’ this year's event featured an exhibition by 22 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the creative and culture industry.

Among the 22 participating MSMEs, five were announced as winners: Namutse Fabrics and Creatives, Films Icon, Enkali Prime, Imms Nicolau Music and Studios and Whuda Marble Art Namibia.

The event was graced by the presence of Vice-President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who delivered the keynote speech. Addressing creatives and potential investors, she highlighted the government's recognition of the potential and importance of the culture and creative industries. "Over the years, we have taken steps to create an enabling environment for these industries to thrive. Moving forward, our interventions will be designed to support artists and creators, promote cultural exchange and ensure that our rich heritage is celebrated and preserved for future generations."

Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised the significance of the event, noting that it featured 22 exhibitors from five identified sub-sectors within the culture and creative industries: Fashion and textile design; technology (software and game development); music and performing arts; visual art, and filmmaking. "I congratulate all participants for sharing your talents with us, thus making us richer culturally," she added.

The TechNovation Social not only showcased the diverse talents within Namibia's creative sector, but also provided a platform for networking and collaboration between creators and potential investors. The event underscored the vital role of the creative industries in the country's cultural and economic landscape, reinforcing the commitment to fostering growth and innovation in these sectors.
