News in short
The Namibian Institute for Democracy (NID), alongside the Hanns Seidel Foundation Namibia (HSF), earlier this week launched a democracy project worth N$11 million.
Titled ‘Strengthening democratic participation: Namibia needs me’, the project kicked off in September and will run till May 2026, and is funded by the European Union (EU) - with 20% co-funding from the HSF.
EU ambassador to Namibia, Ana Beatriz Martins, said it is “imperative to equip” the youth with knowledge of democracy.
NID director Naita Hishoono said the project's activities will include training sessions for learners, teachers and representatives of civil society organisations.
