The Namibia Football Association (NFA) is expected to announce a new leader today, as the historic elective congress will see 38 delegates vote for a new NFA executive council and president.

The Fifa Normalisation Committee's (NC's) tenure ends today after administering football for over a year, and chairperson Bisey Uirab has high hopes that there will never be a need for another committee again.

"I hope that the camps will continue to support the elected leader even if he is not from their side.

"We have everything in place, and one can only hope that the spirit can continue after we leave," Uirab said.

Groundwork laid

The NC chairperson feels they have done enough to restore football in the country, having managed to restart football after gaining sponsorship from Debmarine Namibia for the men's premier league and FNB for the women's league.

The committee also brought back lower-division football.

It was the country's second committee after NFA leadership tussles.

"It is important that there be harmony after we leave. I hope that we are the last committee that had to be appointed," he said, adding that they "have laid the foundation, and it is now up to the leaders to take that further.

"It has been a journey of ups and downs, but the foundation has been laid," Uirab said.
