NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN

NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN: President Hage Geingob yesterday announced the appointment of Major General Joseph Shikongo as the new inspector general of the Namibian Police. He is replacing outgoing Lieutenant General Sebastian Ndeitunga, who is retiring at the end of this month. This is Shikongo’s second promotion in a space of just over a year, after he was promoted from the rank of commissioner in April 2021 to major general and deputy inspector general for operations, from his previous position as the Khomas regional commander. The police chief is appointed by the president on the recommendation of the Security Council. In the photo, Geingob (middle) is pictured with Shikongo (right) and Ndeitunga. PHOTO: CONTRIBUTED
