New leaf for Jacobs

Experienced local coach Woody Jacobs will take over as head coach of Matebele FC in Botswana next month.
Local coach Woody Jacobs has been appointed as the head coach of Matebele FC in the Botswana Premiership for the 2023–24 season.
Jacobs takes over from Elias Chinyemba, who has parted ways with the club.
Jacobs confirmed this news to Namibian Sun, and he is set to officially take over the reins of the club, fondly known as ‘Kuka Ntsu’, on 1 September.
Experienced coach
The club, based in Matebele village, some 20 kilometres outside of Gaborone, was promoted to the league after spending two years in the first division.
Jacobs comes with a host of experience, having coached a number of Namibian clubs, among them Black Africa, African Stars, Civics, Young Ones, Tura Magic, Unam and Orlando Pirates, Okahandja United, Tigers and Ramblers. He also coached the national senior women’s team, the Brave Gladiators.
He holds a CAF-A licence and an executive certificate in sports management.
