  • NCS officers embark on Malaysian prison reform fellowship
In an effort to enhance the correctional services jurisdiction, the High Commission of Malaysia in Windhoek under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) will be sending five Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) officers to participate in a fully sponsored two-week ‘A Journey in Prison Reform’ fellowship course series 1/2024 to be hosted by the Correctional Academy of Malaysia in Langkawi from 26 May to 6 June 2024. The NCS group of Harold Helmut Noabeb, deputy commissioner, Fiina Engelbrecht, senior superintendent, Veronika Fwanyanga Kandjimi, senior superintendent, Maria Nyemushi Ipinge, assistant commissioner and Ita Heinrich, assistant commissioner was sent off by Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, acting High Commissioner of Malaysia to Namibia. They will leave for Malaysia on Thursday and return on 7 June. The correctional service officers were treated to Malaysian delicacies like Nasi Lemak and Ayam Masak Sambal during their visit to the High Commission of Malaysia. In an effort to enhance the correctional service’s jurisdiction, the High Commission of Malaysia in Windhoek - under the Malaysian technical cooperation programme - will be sending five Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) officers to participate in a fully-sponsored two-week fellowship course.

The course, titled ‘A Journey in Prison Reform’, will be hosted by the Correctional Academy of Malaysia in Langkawi from 26 May to 6 June.

The NCS group - deputy commissioner Harold Helmut Noabeb, senior superintendent Fiina Engelbrecht, senior superintendent Veronika Fwanyanga Kandjimi, assistant commissioner Maria Nyemushi Ipinge and assistant commissioner Ita Heinrich - was sent off by acting High Commissioner of Malaysia to Namibia, Dato Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya. They will leave for Malaysia on Thursday and return on 7 June.

The correctional service officers were treated to Malaysian delicacies like nasi lemak and ayam masak sambal during their visit to the High Commission. Additionally, they were given a short lesson on Malaysian customs by the acting high commissioner.
