Nando Homie: From singles to ‘Believe’
After releasing over 20 singles that solidified his presence in Namibia's hip-hop scene, Nando Homie is stepping into new territory with his debut EP ‘Believe.’
Slated for release on Saturday, 1 February, the project is the culmination of years of persistence and a belief in his craft. In an exclusive interview with tjil, Nando Homie opens up about the inspiration behind ‘Believe,’ the creative process and his aspirations.
The making of ‘Believe’ was an intimate process, with a select group of collaborators shaping its sound.
"Motiion Kuvingoma played a significant role in recording and directing several songs on the EP," Nando revealed. "Long-time producer Rolih also contributed to tracks like 'Celebrate,' while artists like I'vory, Skipper Willz, Lil Swartbooi and Nashawn brought their unique energy. Each session was a pleasure and an opportunity to learn."
When it comes to distribution, Nando remains committed to Namibian platforms. "Believe will be available on Donlu Africa. I’ve been a fan and supporter since they started. We’re also planning to launch merchandise throughout the year, so there’s plenty to look forward to," he said.
A statement
For Nando Homie, ‘Believe’ is not just another release. "This marks my first official body of work after building my catalogue with singles. It’s different because the creative process was more deliberate. It’s not just me rapping to prove I can rap – it’s a statement of who I am."
Reflecting on his journey, Nando Homie emphasised the balance of emotions that fuels his artistry. "It’s been a long road with its challenges and joys, but nothing gives me peace like writing music. I’ve always believed in myself, and that’s what this EP represents. Self-belief is the takeaway I want for anyone who listens."
