NACN announces 2024 cycle one grant results

STAFF REPORTER
The National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) has announced the successful applicants for its 2024 cycle one grant disbursement period.

"After a rigorous selection process, a total of 17 projects have been approved for funding, securing a combined grant of N$615 206.50," it said in a statement.

Understanding the challenges faced by artists, particularly in times of limited funding and resources, the NACN added that it is "proud to continue its approach to grant disbursement, providing recipients with quarterly grant calls to ensure a steady income flow throughout their projects".

Recognising the invaluable role of artists in shaping culture and society, the NACN’s disbursement approach aims to address the financial challenges they face, enabling effective resource management, it said. The council funds projects across a spectrum of disciplines, including crafts, dance, fashion, literature, music, theatre, visual arts and multidisciplinary works. "Celebrating the diversity and richness of Namibia’s artistic landscape , the NACN encourages prospective applicants to explore funding opportunities."

For this cycle, the successful applicants include Ngandu Events, Nam Acting, Satoka Cultural Group, Lazarus Makuti and Elizabeth Hangara. The full list of successful applicants is available on NACN's Facebook page.
