A groundbreaking ceremony for the N$20 million Karibib Medical Centre took place on Thursday. The facility, to be built on land worth N$3 million donated by the Karibib Town Council, will be operated, equipped, and maintained by the health ministry. Health minister Kalumbi Shangula emphasised the project’s role in strengthening public health infrastructure. Funded by QKR Navachab Gold Mine, the centre is expected to provide world-class medical services and will be a major upgrade from the nearby Karibib Clinic. Construction is set to begin before June and will be completed in three phases. Once operational, the Karibib Medical Centre will offer expanded medical care to the growing local population. - Adam Hartman
