MTC cautions against last-minute SIM registrations
MTC has urged the public to avoid waiting until the last minute to register their SIM cards and advised people to take full advantage of the extension period.
In December, MTC announced an extension of SIM registrations to the end of March, instead of the end of December 2023.
MTC's corporate affairs manager John Ekongo said the idleness of the public following the extension has resulted in low turn-out at registration points.
"We have noticed that the public is not utilising and taking advantage of the opportunity to register their SIM cards, as most of our MTC retail stores and enrolment centres in certain areas are empty or have only a handful of people turning up.”
To date, MTC has registered 1 345 896 SIM cards, with another 585 197 pending registration before the March deadline.
