Man caught raping mentally-disabled teen

A 30-year-old man was reportedly caught red-handed raping a 17-year-old mentally-disabled girl on Monday at Elavi A village in the Nehale Lyampingana constituency.
Oshikoto police regional commander, Commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku, said the suspect was allegedly found in a room by the victim's guardian at the time of the incident. "It is alleged that the victim went to sleep earlier than her guardian in her sleeping hut. After some time, the guardian went to check on the victim as usual. Unexpectedly and surprisingly, she found the suspect in the victim's bed, both naked," Kalompo-Nashikaku said.
She said the 42-year-old guardian immediately reported the matter to the police.
The suspect, who was employed as a domestic worker at a neighbouring house, is expected to make his first appearance in the Tsumeb Magistrate's Court today.
