Malaysian embassy celebrates education, diplomatic ties
Ambassador Mohamad Rameez Bin Yahaya, the acting high commissioner of Malaysia, said since the establishment of the diplomatic ties between Malaysia and Namibia in 1990, bilateral cooperation has progressed steadily.
Speaking at the Malaysia Education Fair held in Windhoek last week, he said Malaysia’s economic cooperation and integration have been among the major areas of Malaysia-Namibia cooperation, as has education.
He further expressed delight that in 2019, Malaysian institution Limkokwing University was established in Namibia.
The Namibian campus is the fifth in Africa, and offers 11 courses at certificate and diploma levels in various fields.
“We hope that this synergy can be further developed. Malaysia's commitment to providing world-class education is underscored by its diverse and innovative academic landscape. Today, we witness the fruits of partnerships that transcend boundaries and borders.”
He added that the dedication to fostering educational ties between Namibia and Malaysia reflects a shared vision for the empowerment and development of their people, especially the youth, who will contribute meaningfully to the global community.
“As we embark on this journey of knowledge exchange, it is heartening to know that SEGI University and Colleges is part of this collaborative effort. Their commitment to academic excellence and global perspectives will undoubtedly enrich the educational experience for students from both Malaysia and Namibia. Let us embrace this opportunity to build bridges of understanding and lay the foundation for a brighter future through education.”
The fair, which was organised by SEGI University and Colleges in collaboration with Aimers Axle Malaysia, was attended by almost 50 potential students.
