JOY AND WONDER: Amid the bumps of the world, moments of exuberance shone through in 2024, as captured in these top photos of the year selected by the AP news agency. One striking image by AP photographer Ramon Espinosa shows a girl playing a jump rope game at a school housing residents displaced by gang violence in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in May. Another standout photo, taken by Alberto Saiz, depicts a reveller lying in a pool of squashed tomatoes during the annual ‘Tomatina’ tomato fight fiesta in the village of Buñol near Valencia, Spain, in August, capturing a moment of pure exuberance.
