I’m not hungry for political office – Nghaamwa

Former Ohangwena governor and now full-time farmer Usko Nghaamwa - who has made various donations to the education fraternity over the years - says he’s not interested in any political office.

“People think when I make donations, I want to come back to office. I am not hungry for any office,” he said.

He emphasised that he is well off and is where he started before he became a politician.

Nghaamwa, who was speaking during a special visit to Oshikunde Combined School in Ohangwena as the school patron, said education is the key to the future.

He described the recent failure rates of learners as disappointing, but said he will continue to support the sector.

“Education is a collective collaboration and that is the only way that we will educate the Namibian child,” he said.

He urged learners to stick to education as it secures employment.

“Do not be afraid that someone will steal your knowledge,” Nghaamwa stressed.

The former governor last year awarded the two best performing learners from Oshikunde Combined School with N$50 000 and N$25 000 respectively.

The school’s principal, Hoster Simasiku, said the two learners are currently enrolled at tertiary institutions.
