IEB results: Napso matriculants achieve 99% pass rate
The matric results for the Namibian Private Schools Organisation (Napso) Independent Examinations Board (IEB) schools for 2024 were released last night, with all but one of the 155 matriculants having passed – a 99% pass rate. Moreover, 88% of the matriculants qualified for university admission.
Zander van Wyngaard, head boy of Windhoek Afrikaans Private School, achieved an average grade of 91%, with his highest subject, engineering graphics and technology, at 97% for the year. His efforts netted him the position of highest-achieving learner of all Namibian Napso IEB schools for 2024.
“I am very thankful for all the support from my friends and family,” Van Wyngaard said. “I also needed a lot of self-discipline. This was only possible with God’s help,” he added.Van Wyngaardt plans to study mechatronic engineering at Stellenbosch University next year.
He is followed closely by Sienta-Mari van Rooyen, head girl at Moria Private School, with her 89.9% final mark.
She excelled in all her subjects, but mathematics stood out at 96%.
“I feel blessed,” Van Rooyen said.
“It was a difficult year, but constant hard work delivered good results. Next year I plan on studying BCom mathematical science at Stellenbosch University,” she added.
In third place, with an 89.57% average, is Karien Coetzee. Coetzee, head girl at Keetmanshoop Private School, also achieved the best result in biology with 90%.
‘Backbone of our learners’
Napso CEO Wouter Niehaus expressed his gratitude to the matriculants, praising their hard work and dedication.
“You had to follow in the footsteps of 17 other IEB groups before you and today I can say with pride that you managed to fill those boots,” Niehaus said.
On behalf of Napso, he also congratulated the parents and teachers involved in the success of the students.
“You are the backbone of our learners; your dedicated support is invaluable. Your investment in the future of our children contributed to their success,” he underlined.
