Botma murder trial resumes

Three men accused of murdering an elderly couple on their farm in Koës in 2018 appeared again in the Windhoek High Court yesterday morning.
Giel Botma (79) was shot and killed, while his 80-year-old wife, Sarie, was strangled with shoelaces.
Two of the accused, Julius Frederick 'Lemmie' Arndt and Andries Afrikaner, remain in custody, while the other accused, Johannes Christiaan, has been released on bail.
The trio allegedly murdered the couple after they had gained access to their home through a window.
In February 2018, when Arndt, Afrikaner and Christiaan made their first court appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court, hundreds of farmers gathered at the court, calling for the men to be denied bail.
At the time, the Namibia Agricultural Union also condemned the senseless killing, adding that the criminals must be punished severely.
