Teacher scammed by fake MTC employee

A teacher was reportedly scammed of N$11 500 last Friday by a person who pretended to be a MTC employee. The incident took place in Kamanjab.
According to a police report, the victim - a 54-year-old woman - received a phone call in Decembe from the fake MTC employee, informing her that she allegedly won N$8 000 for registering her SIM card.
She was asked for her bank account details, card number and its expiry date, which she provided.
It is further alleged that she did not receive any further communication until 19 January, when N$11 500 was withdrawn from her bank account.
The money has not yet been recovered and the suspect remains unknown and at large. Police investigations continue.
