Murder, theft

The Namibian Police had their hands full this weekend, with multiple murders recorded across the country.

In Tsumeb on Saturday, an argument led to the death of Gurney Elrich Uirab, who was stabbed in his stomach with an unknown object. According to the police, he died later in hospital. A 27-year-old suspect was arrested.

In Omuthiya, Andreas Lukas (46) fell and hit his head against a wall.

The crime report said Lukas died upon arrival at the Omuthiya District Hospital. It is alleged that right before he fell, the deceased was chasing someone with a traditional dagger in his hand. Lukas reportedly stabbed the 32-year-old man from behind in his buttocks and head.

While being pursued, the man turned around and grabbed the deceased, causing him to fall and hit his head. The man was arrested, and is expected to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court today.

Alleged thief attacked

In the Omusati Region’s Eenawa village, suspects assaulted an unidentified man with an iron rod on his head and all over his body after they caught him “red-handed breaking into shebeens”.

“It is reported that the victim sustained multiple injuries all over his body and open wounds on his head. He was admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital in a critical condition. No arrest has been made yet. Police investigations continue.”

In Stampriet, a 30-year-old woman was reportedly brutally attacked by her boyfriend during an argument on Saturday.

“It is alleged that the suspect stabbed his girlfriend multiple times on her head, chest, right shoulder and left arm after an argument. She sustained serious injuries. She was rushed to the Mariental State Hospital where she is currently admitted. No arrest has been made yet,” the report read.

Theft

Several cases of theft were also recorded over the weekend.

On Saturday, suspects allegedly used a screwdriver to gain access to a residential property in Klein Windhoek. They stole an HP laptop, a MacBook, an iPad, a Samsung Galaxy Note 10, two iPhones, two iPhone watches, a Mondaine Swiss watch and two television sets, altogether valued at almost N$250 000. No recovery or arrest has been made, but investigations continue.

Meanwhile on Friday, at Eenawa village in the Omusati Region, a suspect used an unknown object to break into a shop and stole items valued at over N$17 000. No arrests have been made.

On the same day, a motorist fell prey to thieves who allegedly grabbed his iPhone 13 Pro Max from his hand through the car window in Wanaheda. The phone is valued at N$26 000.
