Murder, arson case approaches hearing
A 32-year-old woman accused of setting a house on fire while her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend were sleeping inside has had her trial assigned to a new judge and postponed to 24 November.
Mecthilde Karomo faces two charges of murder and one charge of arson.
The incident occurred in December 2022 in Windhoek's Okahandja Park informal settlement.
Leonard Haupindi Kadubuli and Anastasia Ihemba Matende died in the house fire.
Karomo and Kadubuli were allegedly involved in a fight prior to the incident, during which she allegedly threatened to burn down his house.
Karomo appeared before judge Hosea Angula in the Windhoek High Court in Windhoek on 17 October, at which point the case was assigned to judge Claudia Claasen.
The next court date is scheduled for preliminary proceedings and the scheduling of trial dates. Karomo remains out on bail in the meantime.
