Kambwa’s wife wants N$45 000 a month plus house
The wife of prominent businessman David 'Kambwa' Sheehama has filed for divorce, demanding N$45 000 a month for herself and their two children, as well as ownership of their current house located in the posh Auasblick suburb.
Former princess Katrina Lugodhi Elifas, daughter of the late Ondonga King Immanuel Kauluma Elifas, initiated the divorce proceedings, citing several grievances about her millionaire husband, whom she accused of having an extramarital affair with a lawyer from a prominent local firm.
In a lavish ceremony in 2013, Sheehama stunned guests by arriving with his bride in a helicopter that was usually reserved to transport the president and other high-ranking officials when they visited the north.
Divorce demands
In divorce papers, Elifas has urged the court to award her custody of their two children while affording Sheehama reasonable rights of access.
She said their marriage turned sour due to Sheehama's alleged neglect of emotional and financial responsibilities towards his family.
Elifas has demanded that Sheehama restore conjugal rights, and, failing that, she is seeking a final divorce order.
She has demanded maintenance payments of N$15 000 per month for each of the couple’s minor children, with an annual increase of 5% on the anniversary of the final divorce order.
Additionally, she is asking that he cover 50% of all medical and related expenses for the minor children, including 50% of the premiums due to a medical aid for them.
She is also asking that her husband cover 100% of all costs related to the children's daycare and education needs, including tuition, after-school care, books, stationery, equipment, school outings, school clothes and extracurricular activities.
“In the event of the minor children displaying an aptitude for higher education, an order directing the defendant to pay all fees due to an institution for higher learning attended by the said minor children, together with all costs relating to books and equipment in respect of the course in question, visas, travelling, accommodation and living expenses, which obligations shall continue for as long as the said children apply themselves with due diligence and continue to make satisfactory progress,” court documents read.
More relief sought
Additionally, she is asking for maintenance support for herself of N$15 000 for a period of 24 months from the date of service of summons.
She is also asking that the couple’s residence in Auasblick be transferred into her name, free of any encumbrance, or alternatively, that a house of equal value be bought for her.
“It would be in the best interest of the minor children if custody and control be awarded to the [mother]. During the subsistence of the marriage and with a fixed and malicious intention to terminate the marital relationship between the parties, the [father] failed to show any love and affection towards the [mother]," she noted in papers filed at court.
According to the court papers, Sheehama consistently failed to provide financial assistance to Elifas for household necessities, including rates and taxes, unless specifically requested by her.
“He is regularly absent from the common home on activities unrelated to work. He has commenced intimate social associations and liaison with a female companion [name withheld] and has refused to cease the said relationship despite being demanded to do so.”
