#JustIn: Culpable homicide trial after death of cyclist begins today
The man who is facing a charge of culpable homicide in connection with the fatal hit-and-run accident on the western bypass in which the cyclist Ingrid van Wyk Scholtz (38), who died about three years ago, is expected to start in the Katutura Magistrate's Court tomorrow. The state claims that Paulus Kambata overtook a vehicle with his black Mercedes on the left and bumped Scholtz from behind on her bicycle inside the yellow barrier line. He allegedly sped off afterwards. Kambata also faces charges of reckless and/or negligent driving, obstruction of justice and a charge of failing to stop, assist, determine injuries or report the incident.
