#JustIn: Alleged paedophile's trial will not start today
The trial of the man facing 75 charges related to the sexual abuse of minor boys in Windhoek and the distribution of pornographic images on the dark web was due to begin today.
However, the defence indicated this morning that he is not ready to start the trial.
The alleged paedophile, Johann Maree, will appear in court again at around 14:30. Judge Philanda Christiaan ordered that parties appear in court again this afternoon together with the directorate of legal aid to address the issue of disclosure.
The state's statements, photographs and other evidence have apparently been handed over to Maree's previous legal representative, Eva Nangolo, and the newly appointed representative is apparently struggling to get them to her.
The hearing was scheduled to last until Tuesday next week, but is likely to be adjourned this afternoon.
