JUST IN: Fitty’s bail application postponed
One of the Fishrot accused appeared in the Windhoek High Court today for closing submissions in his bail application, but instead the case was postponed to 12 December.
Tamson “Fitty” Hatuikulipi’s bail application, that is based on new facts, started in July this year. After closing their cases, the state prosecutor and Hatuikulipi’s lawyers were supposed to make final submissions before judgement.
Hatuikulipi’s defence lawyers, Richard Metcalfe and Florian Beukes, were absent from court this morning and the case was subsequently postponed. Metcalfe’s mother passed away last weekend and Beukes is ill.
Hatuikulipi will remain in custody until his next appearance on 12 December. On the same day, two of his co-accused, Bernard Esau and Nigel van Wyk, will also appear in the High Court for the commencement of their bail application.
