JUST IN: De Klerk granted bail
Mariental-born lawyer Marén de Klerk - who recently changed his name to Michael - was granted bail today in the Paarl Magistrate Court. An accused in the Fishrot saga, he was arrested in South Africa while pursuing a separate case in which he was allegedly conned out of N$3 million
His bail was set at N$50 000 and his extradition hearing will start on 26 September.
De Klerk is wanted in Namibia on charges of racketeering, fraud, corruption and money laundering in connection with the Fishrot case. The Fishrot trial is set to start on 23 October.
