JUST IN: Attorney's admission case turns to Supreme Court
The Namibian legal assistant, Alex Kamwi, will appear in the Supreme Court tomorrow for his appeal against the High Court's decision that he cannot be admitted as a legal practitioner.
His application in the High Court was opposed by the Law Society of Namibia (LSN) because he allegedly did not meet the requirements for admission and authorisation to practice.
Kamwi claims he has an LLB degree from the Open University of Tanzania, as well as two years of practical legal training at Oxbridge Academy in South Africa. Furthermore, he refers to other courses and certificates that he allegedly obtained from different institutions.
The Supreme Court will decide whether Kamwi meets the requirements in terms of the law and therefore qualifies to be admitted as a legal practitioner.
