Journalists in court over drone case
Journalist John Grobler and Nrupesh Soni, a freelance journalist who is well-known in tourism circles, appeared in the Magistrate's Court at Gobabis this morning on three charges brought by game trader Gerrie Odendaal.
The complaint involves trespassing, flying a drone without permission, and using a restricted remote controlled drone and systems.
The two accused allegedly flew a drone over Odendaal's farm in the Gobabis district on 19 February 2022 to investigate the controversial issue of the export of Namibian elephants to zoos in the United Arab Emirates.
Borris Erasmus represents the two accused who are free on caution.
