Three suspects accused of defrauding Medusalem Gravestones of over N$80 000 were denied bail after making their first appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Elizabeth Casper (42), Sarafine Nganzi (33) and Sandra Sikongo (36) appeared before Magistrate Sonia Samupofu, who postponed the matter to 25 June for further investigations.

The trio allegedly conspired to steal N$82 609 from Medusalem Gravestones between 2022 and 2024 by using misrepresentation.

According to court documents, Casper, Nganzi and Sikongo unlawfully, with intent to defraud and under false pretences tricked business owner Josua Medusalem into believing that an amount of N$82 609.52, received for gravestone sales, was deposited into the business’ bank account.

Medusalem could not be reached for comment.
