Former first lady Monica Geingos has been appointed as the inaugural chancellor of Kepler College in Kigali, Rwanda.

Geingos stepped into her role on 29 July.

Charles Murigande, chairman of the college’s governance council, said Geingos’ extensive experience and leadership in youth advocacy make her the ideal candidate to lead the institution.

Murigande highlighted Geingos' passion and dedication to Africa’s development through the economic empowerment of young Africans, which aligns with the college’s mission.

Geingos said it is an honour to lead the institution into a new era of transformative education.

“By creating a dynamic learning environment that bridges academic excellence with real-world application, we aim to ignite a generation of Pan African innovators and leaders who will drive meaningful progress,” she said.

As chancellor, Geingos will preside over convocation ceremonies, confer degrees and represent Kepler College within and outside the academic community.
