Progress has been made on the construction of Phase 1 of the Ondangwa-Omutsegonime water pipeline project, which is expected to cost N$91 million.

On Tuesday, NamWater and various stakeholders visited the project site in Ondangwa. The water utility has appointed Homefin Properties, which, in partnership with China Jiangxi International, is undertaking the construction of the project.

Phase 1 is a 17-kilometre stretch from Ondangwa to Oshali. NamWater’s chief engineer Saltiel Shaanika said the project is going well.

The Ondangwa-Omutsegonime water pipeline has been promised to the residents of the Oshana and Oshikoto regions since 2017, with the latter facing serious challenges to access potable water.
