The Keetmanshoop municipality has taken another significant step in improving infrastructure and service delivery with the official handover of the electrification project for Tseiblaagte Extension 7, Phase 2, worth N$6.3 million, this month.

Speaking at the event, Keetmanshoop mayor Annelize Knaus reflected on the journey so far, emphasizing that these investments are crucial for sustainable development, improved living conditions and economic growth.

“About a year ago, we gathered here to celebrate the successful electrification of Tseiblaagte Extension 1, Phase 1. That project, valued at N$4 million, has since paved the way for the establishment of new homes and thriving households," she said.

“Today, we are proud to take the next step by commencing the electrification of Tseiblaagte Extension 1, Phase 2, for N$6.3 million. This investment is a testament to the Keetmanshoop municipality's dedication to enhancing infrastructure and ensuring sustainable development for all,” Knaus said.

The municipality expressed gratitude to Dinoco Investment CC, the contractor responsible for executing the project. “I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Dinoco Investment CC, the contractor entrusted with the execution of this important project. We are confident in your expertise and commitment to delivering quality work that will benefit our community for years to come."

Additionally, Knaus acknowledged the role of Engco Engineers in ensuring the project's success. “I want to acknowledge the role played by our consulting engineers, Engco Engineers, whose professional guidance and technical oversight ensure the successful implementation of this project. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.”

Free prepaid meter conversion for residents

In addition to the electrification project, the Keetmanshoop municipality’s electricity business unit (KEBU) has launched a promotional initiative allowing residents to convert their conventional electricity meters to prepaid meters at no cost.

This offer, available until the end of June, aims to provide residents with a more convenient and cost-effective way to manage their electricity usage. “I encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity,” urged Knaus.

Recognising the importance of well-lit communities, the municipality has also awarded a bid for the installation of three high-mast lights in key areas to enhance public safety.

“We are actively identifying dark spots in our town and taking the necessary steps to illuminate them. Just a few days ago, we awarded a bid for the installation of three high-mast lights in key areas to improve visibility and enhance public safety," the mayor said.

“As we embark on this next phase of electrification, let us continue to work together as a community. Infrastructure development is not just about building; it is about creating opportunities, enhancing livelihoods and fostering economic growth," she added.
