Katjinakatji housing project kicks off

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for Phase 1 of the Katjinakatji Shack Dweller Project last week.
Located in the Kavango West Region’s Mankumpi constituency, the project will see the construction of 21 houses, with more to follow in subsequent phases.
Deputy minister of urban and rural development Evelyn !Nawases-Taeyele said construction projects provide employment opportunities as well as improve living conditions, enabling residents to better pursue economic opportunities. "Adequate housing contributes to social stability, as secure homes encourage individuals to invest in their education, health and community involvement," she said.
Constituency councillor and National Council chairperson Lucas Muha extended a word of gratitude toward the donors.
"Telecom contributed building materials valued at N$50 000, while the Kavango West Regional Council donated N$40 000, which was used for purchasing cement, installing a water pipeline and surveying.”
Additionally, Camsop provided N$30 000, with N$15 000 allocated to the Katjinakatji shack dweller association, and the remaining N$15 000 to its counterpart in Mururani, he said.
