42 Ondangwa households relocated for better service delivery
The Ondangwa Town Council is finalising the relocation of 42 households from Uutala to Omashaka Proper in an effort to improve service delivery for residents.
Council spokesperson Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said this comes after a successful engagement with the 42 households in Uutala, Ondangwa Ext 7, with the residents agreeing to be moved to a new location.
Shitalangaho-Mutikisha explained that Omashaka Proper already accommodates 231 households and is equipped with water and electricity services.
She said the current area from which the council is relocating these households has been designated for business development in the town.
The 42 households are part of a larger group of 564 that were moved to Onantsi proper and Onantsi Ext 1 in 2018.
Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said these residents have been living in Uutala without properly demarcated areas, lacking access to essential services like water and electricity and unable to construct conventional homes. She said that once relocated, they will now benefit from formalised plots and municipal services.
“The remaining households were unable to relocate at that time due to insufficient space at Onantsi for all Uutala residents,” she said.
