Unam Cares launches community health initiative
News in short
University of Namibia (Unam) vice-chancellor Professor Kenneth Matengu – who is also the founder of Unam Cares – launched the ‘One Health’ (OH) community engagement initiative in the Tsumkwe constituency of the Otjozondjupa Region earlier this month.
Unam Cares is the university’s corporate social responsibility arm.
The initiative was launched in partnership with the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut. Its primary goal is to enhance the health of local communities under the OH umbrella by integrating human-animal-plant and environmental health and well-being.
The main objective of the project is to gain insight into how to improve the health of marginalised communities, their livestock, wildlife and the environment.
