October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ongwediva Medipark's cancer walk and free screening for breast cancer is back, all in an effort to save lives.

This year’s theme is ‘Together We Can’.

The walk will take place at Ongwediva on Saturday, 22 October, and will start at 06:00. Everyone is invited, marketing and communications coordinator, Katarina Elago, said.

She added that next Friday, 28 October, the hospital will hold a presentation day on cancer in Namibia, which will be done by healthcare workers.

The next day, 29 October, the hospital will be offering free cancer screening for the community.

She urged residents to come out in numbers and to make use of the free services so they can get help fast.

“Early detection saves lives. That is the whole point and why we are doing what we doing. If we can save at least one life, then we’ve done our job,” Elago said.
