#JustIn: Modern district hospital planned for Nkurenkuru
The construction of a primary health care clinic in Nkurenkuru is the first phase of a project to build a district hospital for the area. The clinic is a first of its kind - an ultra-modern facility - funded by both the town and the government.
"It is designed to address the following diseases once it is fully operational: general illnesses, growth monitoring and promotion, vaccinations, prenatal and postnatal care, family planning, dentistry, and antiretroviral services," said the Minister of Health, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, during a press conference this afternoon.
Already, 41 job opportunities for the facility have been approved, including two doctors, 22 registered nurses, a pharmacist and pharmacy assistants, and other support staff.
This comes after the National Council's standing committee on health, social services, and labor recently presented a report on the state of health care facilities, particularly highlighting the fact that an existing Lutheran health center in Nkurenkuru is quite old.
