Water interruptions hit Walvis Bay

News in short
Rita Kakelo
NamWater on Monday announced that Walvis Bay residents and businesses will experience interruptions in water supply between 5 and 7 November.

This interruption, NamWater public relations officer Lot Ndamanomhata said, is necessary to facilitate the final stages of the Collector 2-Collector 1 pipeline replacement project, which is a critical infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving long-term water supply reliability in the region.

He added that during the pipeline replacement, water flows will be restricted to essential connections on the Fehlmann, N and E supply lines. While water from the Swartbank source will be limited, efforts are being made to increase flows from Dorop South, though some limitations may still occur, he noted.

“To mitigate the impact, NamWater is working with contractors to minimise disruption and fill the Mile 7 and Schwarzekuppe reservoirs. Residents are advised to conserve water during this period."
