'Stop mixing things' Geingob to Europeans on Ukraine
President Hage Geingob during a briefing with students in Paris who asked why Namibia has abstained from voting for the de-escalation of the war in Ukraine, said that no war is good, and that you cannot escalate wars repeatedly because no one is a winner in a war.
“Where is the war in Europe? You see, sometimes you Europeans have wars and you call them World War 1 and World War 2 and we are not involved. You cannot escalate a war – no one is a winner. So, no war is good. Innocent people suffer. I was in a war – I was a petitioner, I was fighting my war. Springboks were playing in the United Kingdom and we were saying don’t let them speak about their apartheid oppression. We were told by the West don’t mix sports with politics, but these days you are mixing everything and that is a problem,” he said.
