Over N$400 000 raised for Eenhana Expo
At a fundraising event held over the weekend, the Eenhana Town Council received pledges totalling N$414 470 from stakeholders in support of hosting this year’s expo.
The Eenhana Expo is scheduled for 29 July to 4 August under the theme 'Reviving Local Economy Through Business Resilience, Innovation, and Diversification.'
During the fundraising on Saturday in Eenhana, Rani Group made the highest pledge with a commitment of N$100 000.
Finance Minister Ipumbu Shiimi, who attended the event, emphasised that no country or region can develop without entrepreneurship.
“The business sector has to play its part because development, again, is a partnership between public and private sectors. Without any entrepreneurship, you will not be able to develop a country or region because you need a business sector. So it's a partnership,” Shiimi said.
"So with the vision we have, let's now work on our partnership. Government's role is to make sure that key infrastructure is there – roads, water infrastructure – so that development can take place. But we also have to ask ourselves: What is the knowledge in this region? Because, remember, we have to build on that knowledge.”
Supporting dreams
Shiimi also said expos can inspire young people to become future entrepreneurs.
“Expos, like the expo that we are fundraising for tonight, it's on a platform where we can encourage more entrepreneurship. The kids, when they come here, can see how people are actually trading,” the minister said.
“They will say, 'I can also become a businessman or woman'. So we want to applaud the Eenhana Town Council for creating the expo. You will have our support, and I believe we are all here to support that dream of Eenhana becoming a bigger town, but a bigger town that is going to have more diversified economic activities."
Eenhana mayor Omri-Onn Kavandje said the expo has a significant impact on the image of the local authority and provides a platform for business people to connect with one another.
“Events of this magnitude play a crucial role in showcasing our organisation’s culture, values and brand image,” Kavandje said.
“They also provide an opportunity for networking and forging stronger relationships between local councils and residents, participants, stakeholders and business communities alike by fostering a sense of unity and solid foundations for future collaboration.”
