Namibia welcomes stronger investment ties with Turkey

Deputy minister of industrialisation and trade Verna Sinimbo said on Monday, during the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Republic of Turkey, that the two countries need to strengthen bilateral relations.During her keynote address, Sinimbo highlighted that there is room for improvement in trade investment between the two countries.“Namibia is especially grateful to the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) for helping us reach our sustainable development goals as well as improving the lives of so many Namibians through its projects. We highly appreciate the 15 projects that were completed throughout Namibia, from construction to donating educational material," the deputy minister said. She noted that "investment between the two countries is at a low level, but I want to thank you for your effort to change this situation by initiating, among others, several virtual business forums."In addition, Sinimbo said Namibia welcomes more initiatives and efforts of that nature from the Turkish government.Turkey&#039;s ambassador to Namibia, Feral Çekerek Oruçkaptan, said during the occasion that Turkey values its relationship with Namibia and has stood in "support of Namibia&#039;s independence" since 1960.
