N$13m for Mariental development
News in short
The successful implementation of several development projects in the Hardap Region has contributed significantly to its growth, governor Salomon April said.
During his state of the region address yesterday, he reflected on the region’s shortcomings as well as the efforts made by local authorities to improve the lives of residents.
April said a number of projects have been successfully completed by the Mariental municipality while others are currently underway, with the accumulative value of the implemented projects in the 2022/2023 financial year totalling N$13 million.
Meanwhile, a total of N$4.6 million was spent on water-related projects, which includes the construction of a reticulation system to provide water to 100 Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia plots as well as the construction of a water and sewer reticulation system in the town’s informal settlement.
“Other successful projects completed by the Mariental municipality is the construction of the early childhood development centre in the Takarania settlement at the cost of N$1.6 million, funded by the Anglo American Namibia Foundation, and the establishment of the emergency and medical response centre to the cost of N$1.4 million,” he said.
Furthermore, N$3.3 million was spent to upgrade the town’s northern industrial road.
