Mbuma extends solidarity to California amid deadly wildfires

President Nangolo Mbumba has extended his condolences and solidarity to the United States, particularly the people of California, following devastating wildfires that have claimed innocent lives and destroyed thousands of structures.

Speaking on behalf of the Namibian people and government, Mbumba expressed heartfelt sympathy, stating: “Namibia stands with the people of California during this difficult hour and wishes them strength. I am confident that the American people will be able to contain the ravaging fires and rebuild from the destruction of over 5,000 structures.”

The fires, described as the worst in American history, have sparked a renewed conversation about the urgency of combating climate change—a concern echoed by President Mbumba.

“These unprecedented fires highlight the importance of our collective resolve to accelerate the fight against climate change,” he said.

Namibia, a nation already feeling the effects of a warming planet, has pledged its readiness to collaborate with the U.S. and other like-minded nations to address the global climate crisis.

“As a country that is disproportionately affected by a warming planet, Namibia stands ready to work with the American Government and likeminded nations to deal with the scourge of climate change,” Mbumba affirmed.

The Namibian government’s message comes as countries worldwide grapple with the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters, underscoring the need for global unity and action against climate change.
