On Monday, a delegation from the Karasburg Town Council - led by Karasburg mayor, Maria Veldskoen - visited Windhoek for a benchmarking visit.

According to the City of Windhoek, the visit aimed to review the progress and challenges of an agreement signed in 2010 and renewed in 2022 between the town and the municipality.

"The delegation paid a courtesy call to Windhoek mayor Queen Kamati. During the meeting, Kamati informed the delegation that the City is ready to exchange information, skills and resources.

“However, the town council must assign technocrats to collaborate with City officials to ensure that the focal areas are implemented as per the signed agreement," a statement read.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation was the local economic development officer Stephanis Fleermuys, who said Karasburg needs help in developing its organisational structure. The delegation also requested help in the areas of waste management and servicing of erven.
