Nikanor Nangolo
Secretary to Cabinet George Simataa announced the appointment of three executive directors yesterday. The appointments were made by Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, based on recommendations by the Public Service Commission, and are all effective 1 November.

Dr Michael Humavindu has been appointed as the new executive director of the National Planning Commission. Currently a deputy executive director in the trade ministry, he takes over from Valencia Uiras, who has retired.

With extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, Humavindu has previously held senior management roles, including manager of research at the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) and director of economics and sector research at the Namibian Competition Commission.

Meanwhile, Tuyakula Haipinge, currently the deputy executive director in the Office of the Prime Minister, has been appointed executive director in the higher education ministry. She replaces Alfred van Kent, who has also retired.

Haipinge brings 18 years of management experience to the role. As deputy executive director, she oversaw the public service human resource function and performance management at a policy and planning level.

Finally, Ndiitah Nghipondoka-Robiati, who is currently a deputy executive director in the trade ministry, will assume the role of executive director in the gender ministry, replacing retiree Martha Mbombo. Nghipondoka-Robiati served as acting executive director in the public enterprises ministry for a year in 2022 and was previously the CEO of the Namibia Trade Forum.
