Geingob to attend US-Africa Summit
President Hage Geingob will attend the US-Africa Summit at the invitation of United States president Joe Biden from the 13 to 15 December.
The U.S.-Africa Summit aims at building on shared values to better foster new economic engagement; reinforce the U.S.-Africa commitment to democracy and human rights; mitigate the impact of Covid-19 and future pandemics; work collaboratively to strengthen regional and global health; promote food security; advance peace and security; respond to the climate crisis; and amplify diaspora ties.
“The US-Africa Summit provides an excellent opportunity for emerging economies such as Namibia to strengthen existing bilateral relations, mobilise investments to drive industrialisation, and enable the country to address unemployment and economic imbalances,” presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari said.
On the margins of the U.S.-Africa Summit, Geingob will attend the Semafor Africa Summit, which will convene African and American leaders, business chiefs, innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders of civil society for discussions on topics including regional and global economic priorities, technology, health, climate, and sustainable progress across the continent on 12 December 2022.
