Gawanas, Larandja clash over press conference

Windhoek mayor Sade Gawanas wrote a letter to management committee chairperson Ndeshihafela Larandja this morning, in which she questioned the wisdom and legality of hosting a press conference today, at 10:00, to brief residents about the recruitment of a City chief executive officer (CEO).

Gawanas said the press conference "will be cancelled," but Larandja has gone ahead and is currently addressing the media.

Gawanas also questioned in what capacity the press conference was being held, saying only the council's chairperson, the CEO or the corporate communications manager may host a media conference.
