Former NCBA member investigated for missing funds
A member of the National Collaborative Board Association (NCBA), Meyer Angula, has been accused of mishandling charity funds and is currently under investigation.
NCBA’s secretary general, Lucas Ingashipola, told Namibian Sun last Monday that the incident has raised serious concerns about the integrity and governance within the organisation.
“I stand before you today with a heavy heart as we address a matter of great importance within our organisation. It has come to our attention that there have been instances of misconduct involving the mishandling of organisation funds and the blatant disregard for our established rules and regulations,” he said.
“In clear violation of the organisation’s regulations, this individual misappropriated funds and attempted to cover their tracks. This betrayal undermines the integrity of our organisation and threatens the trust of our sponsors and trustees, which is fundamental to our community.”
Ingashipola said the member in question, who has now been expelled, allegedly took N$3 000 entrusted to her by the organisation.
“These funds were raised during a fundraising event held in June and were intended for the purchase of sanitary pads for the Girl Child Empowerment Project, one of the NCBA's key initiatives. When confronted about the missing funds, Angula claimed to have lost the money and that she plans to pay it back before the project begins," he said.

He said that an investigation also “revealed that she had submitted false documents, including a mismatched CV and ID, to secure her position. This has raised serious questions about the recruitment process within the NCBA. The management is currently investigating how this individual was able to secure her position despite submitting fraudulent documents."
He said the organisation’s national council responsible for recruitment has come under scrutiny for not catching this issue earlier.
Ingashipola emphasised that the NCBA must uphold the laws and regulations set forth by it, not only to maintain its credibility and trust but also to ensure the well-being and prosperity of its members.
“Each of us has a responsibility to act with honesty, integrity, and respect towards the organisation as a whole. The NCBA is committed to resolving this issue and taking steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future,” he said.

When reached for comment, Angula denied the accusations and said she did not misplace the funds.
“I didn't misplace the funds. I lost the funds, and we have discussed this with them. I am a human being too. People with no vision will always seek to diminish and speak ill of those with a well-defined vision. I didn't misplace the money; it was lost. I didn't only lose their funds. I also lost my money and other important documents that were in my bag,” she said.
She added that she would only "pay back a portion of the money because they didn't pay my allowance for last month. And yes, I attached the wrong CV in my email, but it was their responsibility to confirm what I sent to them. However, I passed the interview with 98%."
She claimed that furthermore, "funds have been missing in the association but were never reported to the Namibian Sun. Why now? Why me? Is it because I rejected their sexual proposals or what?” Angula said, without further elaboration.
