FIRST TRIP ABROAD
FIRST TRIP ABROAD: President Nangolo Mbumba yesterday left for Angola for a one-day official visit. It is his first trip abroad since becoming head of state on 4 February. Mbumba told Namibian Sun yesterday that he will be embarking on several trips to neighbouring countries to introduce himself as the new Namibian leader, following the death of president Hage Geingob a month ago.
A number of exchange visits have occurred between the two countries in the past two weeks. Defence minister Frans Kapofi served as Mbumba’s envoy to Angola last week to deliver a letter to Angolan president João Lourenço. On Wednesday, Lourenço also sent a special envoy in the person of external relations minister Antonio Tête.
