Comedy of errors in Tsumeb CEO search
The Tsumeb municipality council has allegedly decided to re-advertise the CEO position after only one of three shortlisted candidates showed up for their scheduled interview last October and to address a disqualified candidate who ticked the female box instead of male.
Tsumeb mayor Mathews Hangula has, however, denied this allegation, telling Namibian Sun the outcome of the interviews has been sent to the line ministry.
“The interviews were conducted and we have submitted the report to our ministry,” Hangula said.
Nevertheless, Namibian Sun has been reliably informed by a source that at the local authority’s last council meeting on 29 January, the council resolved to re-advertise the CEO position, despite having conducted interviews last year.
The only one of the three shortlisted candidates who reportedly attended the interview last year was Nkurenkuru Town Council CEO, Petrus Sindimba.
It is unclear whether he was successful in the interview.
“Council decided to re-advertise the position because only one of the shortlisted candidates showed up, and one of the people who applied went to complain because he indicated that he is a female and not male; hence, it is why the council decided to re-advertise the position,” the source revealed this week.
